Who we've sponsored 2007...

This new section is dedicated to those causes we have supported this year. As in other years, we have sponsored all students of the company in some way, to assist them in completing their courses. Our main sponsorship this year is for The Mercury Phoenix Trust to link with Freddie Mercury of the band QUEEN, who wrote the music for We Will Rock You.

Mercury Phoenix Trust

Mt3 (One Vision) is proud to sponsor the Mercury Phoenix Trust by donating some of the money raised from performances of "We Will Rock You" in Edinburgh to this worthy cause. We have already "Sponsored a Star" to celebrate what would have been Freddie Mercury's 60th Birthday. The Mercury Phoenix Trust is a charity which was set up immediately after the death of Freddie Mercury, by Jim Beach (manager of QUEEN) and the remaining members of QUEEN. The point of the charity is to raise awareness of AIDS and since 1992 it has been responsible for donating over £8million to the fight against AIDS.

More information about the charity can be found at www.mercuryphoenixtrust.com

We also sponsor other charities, especially when someone related to Mt3 is involved!

Hope for Peru

Jonny Gemmell (Pop in WE WILL ROCK YOU) and 15 others from Ayr in Scotland are working in Peru to help some of the poorest and unfortunate children on the planet. The ‘street boys’ of Peru's cities are not only living on the streets without clothes, food, water or shelter but they are also regularly the target for murder by organized groups.

In this region of the world there is very little money and great poverty. In recent civil wars in Peru people flocked to the cities for protection but this only increased their poverty through lack of work, poor living conditions and not enough food or money to go round. Families can’t support all their children and the sons are seen as being better able to look after themselves so they are put onto the streets to fend for themselves and relieve the burden on the rest of the household. Boys aged as little as 4 have been put onto the streets in this way. They don’t have work, food or shelter and often have to beg or steal to survive. They are seen as vermin and often ‘disappear’, killed by those who see them as a problem, or a blight on their society.

Jonny’s group, Hope for Peru, are working with the Vine Trust charity to improve the lives of these boys by trying to give them a future. They will be encouraged back into the now safer forest and mountain areas and trained in the skills they will need to rejoin society and have successful and satisfying lives. Hope for Peru is doing its part by heading into the Amazon rain forest to build housing for these children so they can be taken out of the deprivation and despair of the violent cities.

Each person going on the trip raised money through fund raising to go to their own food, water, and accommodation as well as for the materials to build with. On top of their original target amounts the group have raised even more money which means much more than the £16,000 target has been raised!!! This has been due to the phenomenal amount of money the local community has raised in the last 6 months! All the extra funds are going straight to the street boys through the Vine Trust. This is great because all this money can be gift aided to the trust meaning that the government put more money towards the charity!

Mt3 (One Vision) Ltd is proud to have sponsored Jonny and this worthwhile cause.
